Middlebrook

They say church attendance is on the decline in the UK, but there are so many places of worship in Winchester that I can't believe it applies here, or maybe having a cathedral in your midst just encourages more church going? Who knows! Anyway, this is the Winchester Family Church which took over and refurbished the Middle Brook Centre. The building is a former Art Deco cinema and bingo hall. Meanwhile the cinema has taken over an old church!

  1. Strange changes going on in the building switchings.
Nice to hear that church attendance is up somewhere in the world.

  2. Ha! I have seen a lot of church conversion buildings in London.
    Mostly turning churches into flats.

But this reverse church conversion takes the biscuit!
    From a cinema? Brilliant!

  6. You would not believe how many churches there are in Jackson. Some corners have three or four. I can't believe they all have enough attendees to keep them in "business". And most of them have websites as well!

  7. I must count how many we have, and see if they outnumber the pubs!

  8. I thought that looked like a cinema when I first saw it. Cinemas seem to be shutting down faster than churches these days.

  9. Yes a lot of small cinemas seem to be merging into giant multiplexes on the outskirts of town which aren't as nice.
