K is for Kingsgate Books & Prints

Built into Kingsgate, one of the 2 remaining city gates of Winchester, is a nice little shop called Kingsgate Books & Prints. It sells antiquarian books, prints and paintings (particularly of Winchester), it also does picture framing.

Funny, I just also posted something I discovered within a city gate (of Jerusalem).

  3. It's a lovely little shop - and always carries a picture or few of Cheyne's Court, just inside the Gate in the cathedral close. That is because the Head of the Pilgrim's School, the junior school to Winchester College, lives there, and he collects paintings and prints of his house. He has loads of them now, but they know his weakness and still manage to keep on finding new ones for him to buy.

They are going to miss him, because he retires this year.
