The former Dean's wife started it, Mrs. Till. I do remember one year it raised almost £3000. The incredibly old and very religious books were the slowest to go. I wish I had bought one or two of them now, they would make a wonderful punishment-read for a bad child!
I'd love to rummage in that undercroft (what a nice word, thanks for it).
ReplyDeleteGreat shot and an interesting place to shop. Love the word "undercroft" too.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth : )
I wouldn't be able to resist that! I love second hand book places and always have to get something!
ReplyDeleteThey've got some bargains in there & the money goes towards the upkeep of the cathedral I believe
