May's theme photo at City Daily Photo is 'mailboxes' - I have already posted on the most interesting post box in Winchester not so long ago, so I thought I'd choose a different one. This a Wallbox style post box, it differs from a pillar box as it is not free standing. It bears the initials of the monarch at the time King George.

An old mailbox in an old brick wall makes a great picture.
ReplyDeleteThe pillar boxes I posted from Jerusalem must be of the same vintage. They are not far from King George Street.
It's a classic. Our post boxes are very boring and always free standing. Either yellow or blue (for local mail), and made from galvanized steel.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful old box.

ReplyDeleteWow it is so interesting and fun to see different mailboxes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a classic. So many unique mailboxes making appearances today.
ReplyDeleteI love this one with all the old brick around it. It made for a very nice photograph.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen many of these replaced (unlike old phone boxes). Even the new ones look pretty similar
ReplyDeleteLOVE the mail boxes in the UK!
ReplyDeleteI think you win the prize for the "best" mailbox!
ReplyDeleteThere's one in the cathedral grounds, at the start of the little road leading to the houses where the cathedral staff live - I used to love posting my lettrs in it. It felt special!
ReplyDeleteThe GR ones are quite early and very rarely replaced. Great shot.
