Winchester, ancient capital of England and judged best place to live in the UK in 2006!

Peninsula Square in Winchester used to be an army barracks although it was originally destined to be a palace for King Charles II. It is now private housing. I think it would be a beautiful place to live, but rather expensive.
Peninsula Square was one area I never got to explore, they were still converting areas of it while I lived there.
By the entrance on the hill there was a small cafe. I kept on meaning to use it one day as I walked home, but it closed down, which was rather sad, as it was a good place for the older male residents of the new appartments to meet up.
I am back from Istanbul since yesterday and ready to do English countryside sightseeing again !

You captured this photo beautifully.
ReplyDeleteGattina - Welcome back from Istanbul!
ReplyDeleteJanerowena - I think if it's the same cafe it is now open
I like the memories associated with different places. I suppose it has something to do with our ages but this memory must have been pleasant.
