Tomb
This is a 12th century tomb within the Cathedral. As the board says in front of it says it may contain the remains of the Bishop of Winchester Henry of Blois brother of King Stephen and founder of the Hospital of St Cross.
Great tomb. I read today that they think they've found St. Philip's tomb in Heirapolis. That is really interesting to me because I was recently studying the history of Laodacea which is in that same area. I'll have to go back and look at my notes. I don't retain things as well as I used to.
It's a good looking tomb, whoever is in it.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty neat!

ReplyDeleteJust looked him up, he was quite a schemer ( I guess he got that from his grandfather William) and possibly not in the the tomb.
ReplyDeleteThere are some fascinating things in the cathedral, it's full of tombs, memorials and history in general
