Snow!

OK so anyone living in or near Winchester knows that although we might have had some snow on Saturday evening it did not look anything like this! This photo was taken in December 2010 the last time we had a fair amount. Saturday night a thin layer had settled, but by the morning it had gone. Here is today's photo of the very same spot, the bike is still there and you can see a tiny little line of snow.

Bridge to no where

This bridge is over Nun's Stream in the Hyde area of Winchester. Obviously it had a use once, but now it doesn't go anywhere, other than into a hedge!

Cheyney Court

Cheyney Court always looks like it belongs in Disneyland! It's a beautiful 15th Century building next to St Swithuns Gate at the edge of the city walls. The house was the seat of the Bishop of Winchester during the Middle Ages where he held court & administered justice. In the spring the building is covered with gorgeous wisteria, I will pop back then to get another photo.

Snow hits Winchester!

Snow finally arrived this morning in Winchester, after being told the roads were too treacherous to get to work (result!) I took the opportunity to get some wintry shots of the city. Here is the path to the Cathedral from The Square
