View from Deans Garden

This is the Dean's view from his garden, I'm sure he doesn't mind viewing his workplace from his garden in the same way that we might!

  1. It looks so big from the back.
Yes, let's hope the Dean's love for the cathedral conquers all. (I once was so moved by a Crusader house and chapel near my place, in love with its very stones, until I became the several-times-a-year sole caretaker and sacristan. Then, it turned into "Oi, this needs fixing, that needs cleaning" etc.)

  2. That was how he ended up in Winchester. He came from the cathedral where I live now, at Bury St.Edmunds, and did such a good job of renovating and fund -raising that just when he thought he would be able to relax a bit, they sent him to Winchester to do it all over again. All of his family live around here, so he comes back quite often.

So the Dean was head hunted for the post! :)

  5. Gorgeous!

Dina's comment made me laugh though, especially since it seems so appropriate in this case, with scaffolding around one part of the cathedral. :D

  6. :] Yes, he was head-hunted! You wouldn't think that could happen in the Church, would you?

  7. Hopefully the Dean doesn't actually have to go up the scaffolding to do the work himself!
