Canon Street again
By popular demand (!) a last photo of my recent walk down Canon Street. This is a view of the street looking down towards Winchester College. Apart from the cars, yellow lines and bollards, I don't imagine the view has changed in years.
I have been in three of the houses - all completely different, and all with lots of unexpected space. All owned by teachers at the school or college.
I used to love walking home at dusk, when people were just beginning to turn on the lights but hadn't yet shut the blinds or pulled the curtains. I was struck by how many people, like us, had huge walls full of books!
I used to live at No. 84 back in the 50's & 60's. It was an old council house then - wish I'd bought it later when I could as it's probably worth a fortune now :( Jonathan ajwalker@sky.com
I dont know, I just love this beautiful picture. If it's not the cars and asphalt road, I guess it's from 18th century. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat view!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right - it's probably been the same - lovely!

Yes I like looking to see how other people live!

Jonathan you are probably right. I tried to move to Winchester in 2006, and even now I see houses that I didn't buy back then worth tons!
